The fast path: 30-60 seconds
With Aussie Car Check (and any approved B2B integrator with the Australian Government), the timing breaks down as:
- 0-3s: Stripe payment confirmation
- 3-15s: PPSR Cloud query (gets the security interest data + basic vehicle identity)
- 15-30s: NEVDIS extraction (write-off, stolen, rego history, mileage timeline)
- 30-45s: Comprehensive tier only — ANCAP rating match, ACCC recall match, Carsales market valuation lookup
- 45-60s: Report assembly + email delivery via SMTP
Total: usually under 60 seconds. The report appears in your browser on the success page AND arrives by email simultaneously.
Why some providers are slower
Some smaller providers don't have direct API access to PPSR Cloud and NEVDIS. They submit your search through the public government portals manually (or via a queued batch process), which means:
- Reports may take 4-24 hours to deliver
- Searches may be done in business hours only
- Errors (rego not found, network issues) require manual rework
The data is identical regardless of provider — it all comes from the same two government databases. The price differences are the provider's API fees + value-add (presentation, additional data sources like ANCAP and ACCC recalls).
What can slow it down
Even with API access, a few factors can cause delays:
- PPSR Cloud rate-limiting — the government API has per-customer quotas. Most providers have headroom but during peak periods (Saturday morning when private sellers list cars) some rate- limit slowdowns happen.
- NEVDIS data refresh windows — NEVDIS aggregates data from 8 state transport authorities. Late-Friday rego changes may not appear in NEVDIS until Sunday/Monday.
- State-specific outages — TfNSW and VicRoads occasionally have planned maintenance windows that affect rego lookups for vehicles in those states.
- Email delivery — your inbox provider's spam filters may delay the email delivery by minutes (rarely hours). The report is also visible immediately on the success page and via the link sent to email.
What if it takes longer than expected?
If you don't have your report within 5 minutes of payment:
- Refresh the success page in your browser — the report often appears as soon as the background generation finishes.
- Check your email spam folder.
- Email support@aussiecarcheck.com.au with your name and rego — we'll resend within the hour or fully refund if there's an actual issue.
Can I get the report in seconds via SMS?
Some providers offer SMS delivery. We don't, because the Comprehensive report runs to 4-8 pages of formatted content with charts and tables — it's not SMS-friendly. The report is delivered both as a web page (immediately) and by email (within 60 seconds), and the web page link stays valid forever.
