About the report

Every Comprehensive report covers the essentials buyers care about:
  • Finance / encumbrance check — is there money still owing on the car?
  • Stolen vehicle check — cross-checked against police records nationally.
  • Written-off check — statutory and repairable write-off history.
  • Registration history — state, dates, and ownership transitions.
  • Vehicle identification — make, model, variant, body, colour, year, doors.
  • Specifications — engine, power, transmission, drivetrain, fuel type.
  • ANCAP safety rating — star rating plus crash-test scores.
  • Common faults & recalls — known issues for the model and year.
  • Market valuation — current price band and a depreciation forecast.
  • Timeline — manufacture, import, registrations, transfers.

Absolutely. View an interactive sample report or download the sample PDF. Both use realistic data for a 2018 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport.

Both. We email a secure link to the interactive online version, plus a downloadable PDF you can keep, print, or forward to a mechanic.

The data in the report is a snapshot of the official register at the moment we ran the search. PPSR results are guaranteed for the day they’re generated. For peace of mind, we recommend running a fresh check immediately before signing any paperwork or transferring funds.

Data & sources

Aussie Car Check is an approved B2B integrator with the Australian Government. Data is sourced in real time directly from the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), administered by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA), and the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS), administered by Austroads on behalf of the state and territory road authorities.

It’s the same source data — we simply enrich it with NEVDIS, ANCAP, and market valuation context, and present it in plain English with a chart-driven layout. The official PPSR site charges $2 for the raw certificate; we charge $25 for everything around it that helps you decide whether to actually buy the car.

Yes — rego + state is fastest, but VIN is supported as a fallback for cars that are unregistered or imported. Email support@aussiecarcheck.com.au if you only have a VIN and we’ll handle it.

All eight: NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT. PPSR is national; NEVDIS pools data from every state and territory road authority.

Payment & refunds

$19.99 for Essentials (raw PPSR + NEVDIS) or $29.99 for Comprehensive (everything plus history, specs, safety, valuation). No subscriptions.

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — all processed securely through Stripe.

No, never. Card data never touches our servers. Stripe handles every payment under PCI-DSS Level 1 — the highest payment-security standard available.

Once a report has been generated we incur a per-search fee from the government, so reports are non-refundable. However: if you mistyped the rego, were charged twice, or hit a technical error, email support@aussiecarcheck.com.au within 7 days — we’ll always make it right.

Yes. A GST-compliant tax invoice is included in your report email and always available on request.

Buying advice

The financier can legally repossess the car from you to recover the previous owner’s debt. You lose the car and the money you paid. A $19.99 PPSR check before paying makes that impossible.

A vehicle is “written off” when an insurer decides repair costs exceed the car’s value — usually after a serious crash or flood. Statutory write-offs can never be re-registered. Repairable write-offs can in some states, but typically command 30–50% lower resale value and may have hidden structural damage.

It cross-references the rego/VIN against police-reported stolen vehicles nationally via NEVDIS. If a car has been reported stolen and recovered then re-sold dishonestly, the check will flag it.

Yes — we strongly recommend it for any car priced over $5,000. Our report tells you what the history looks like; a mechanic tells you what the condition looks like. They’re complementary, not competing.

Yes — that’s how most of our customers use it. Get the rego from the seller’s ad before you drive an hour to inspect the car. If something obvious turns up (finance owing, write-off), you save the trip.
